A hub of rail transport
The emblematic station of Diamniadio is part of the TER project, which is the very first railway project in the history of independent Senegal; 136 years after the opening, in 1883, of the Dakar-Rufisque section, which was part of the railway project of the colonial era, Dakar-Saint-Louis.
An integral part of the Emergent Senegal Plan (PSE), the emblematic Diamniadiose station is one of the main services of the new TER line between the center of Dakar and the new Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD).
Designed as a rail transport hub, the emblematic Diamniadio station offers internal and external access through the creation of regional development poles and encourages the mobility of people, goods and services.
The iconic Diamniadio station is an important transportation hub and occupies an essential position in the city's public domain. Occupying a strategic position and managing a large influx of passengers, it introduces the city to its new visitors and offers the first impression of Diamniadio.

Evolving over an area of about 10,000m², the station is composed of a north main building with a capacity of 9150 passengers/day, communicating through a 75-meter-long connecting platform with a south building mainly serving the old city center.
The design of this station was built on an architecture that, beyond its emblematic aspect, communicates its functionality through its aerodynamic form, thus symbolizing the liveliness and development of the TER.
This desire aims to trigger a new perception of urban parameters around the station, and a vision of well-being which is that of "A Senegal emerging in 2035 with a supportive society in a rule of law". The PES with its structural transformation of the economy, its significant improvement in the living conditions of the populations and its potential for the development of new sectors creating wealth and jobs, will allow Senegalese to enter a new development trajectory.
